Veterans League Underway At Harrogate.

Sunday 11th September saw our new 11-a-side Veteran’s league kick off at the CNG Stadium in Harrogate. We are very proud of the way that this competition has come together and have very high hopes for its success, by 2017 we hope to have another division added, bringing the total number of teams to well over 20.

Opening day action saw Ilkley Town Vets climb straight to the top of the league with an impressive 4-0 win over Boroughbridge FC Veterans. Matching them on points, although with inferior goal difference were Amarath Manstonians FC (5-3 over Barwick Vets), Thirsk Vets (3-1 over Sherburn White Rose Vets), Thorpe United Vets (5-2 over York Corinthians) and Killinghall Vets (3-1 over Garforth Villa Vets).

With 12 teams in action yesterday, it is already looking like we have a great league on our hands already and the level of football played has been described as at a really high standard – all this after just two weeks!!
