The Ball Was In Or Was It Out?
With all the comings and goings, conjecture and hearsay over the debate of goal line technology and camera refs being added to the main game of football, it started us musing on the likelihood of it ever being added to our brand of game.
Ignoring the cost factors and the who would look after it issues (that caused enough discussion in the office) the actual pros and cons of this caused quite a heated conversation at Mundial House!
There are those who are definitely for it with their main argument being, what if that one strike determined the whole outcome of the league or cup, wouldn’t you want to know if it was a goal or not and award the game as such. A valid point and one in the fairness and spirit of the game seems plausible and hard to disagree with.
The other side rested their case on the game being a fast, flowing type of football without the need for breaks and that it would harm the very fabric of the game. After all, football has survived many years without goal line technology, would it take anyway talking points that get the passion of the game on display by mates in the pub afterwards?
All very valid points and when reviewed it seems the easiest thing to say is each to their own. There is obviously no real outcome that will please everyone in this type of scenario.
Of course some people will look at this and cry rubbish, yes it may well be, but we have seen many new rules and regulations added to the main game that might make it not such an implausible concept!
However, we are keen to hear your take on the matter; do you believe it would help? Do you even want it? Would it help or hinder the game? Share your view with us.
